Famous Botanical Gardens in China [Back]Yerevan Botanical GardenEstablished in 1935, the Yerevan Botanical Garden spans approximately 80 hectares in the northeastern part of Yerevan. Managed by the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, it houses over 200 species of endemic, rare, and declining plants. The garden features an arboretum and herbarium, with collections that include species from the Caucasus, North America, Europe, Siberia, and East Asia. It serves as a center for scientific research, conservation, and environmental education. Stepanavan DendroparkFounded in 1931 by Polish engineer-forester Edmund Leonowicz, Stepanavan Dendropark is located near the village of Gyulagarak in the Lori Province. Covering 35 hectares, it consists of 17.5 hectares of natural forest and 15 hectares of ornamental trees. The park features over 500 introduced species, including Magnolia, Larix decidua, various cypresses, Pinus sibirica, Cryptomeria japonica, and Sequoiadendron giganteum. It is a popular destination for eco-tourists, scientists, and nature enthusiasts. Sevan Botanical GardenEstablished in 1944, the Sevan Botanical Garden is located near the town of Sevan, close to Lake Sevan, at an elevation of 1920-2000 meters above sea level. Covering 6.5 hectares, it is one of the highest botanical gardens in the world. The garden houses around 650 species, including 225 species of trees, from Armenia, North America, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Himalayas. It plays a significant role in the development of landscaping and forestry in the Lake Sevan basin. Ijevan DendroparkFounded in 1962, Ijevan Dendropark, also known as Ijevan Subtropical Arboretum, is located in the Tavush Province. Situated on the right bank of the Aghstev River, it covers an area of 8 hectares. The arboretum's collection includes over 625 species and varieties, serving as a valuable resource for scientific research and environmental education. |
